The electricity consumed in the factory of the company "Natural Fiber" is certified as 100% renewable
Company “Natūralus Pluoštas” is delighted to announce that from March 2021 all electricity used in the company's factory is 100% renewable.
The certificate issued by “Ignitis” confirms that the use of renewable electricity sources (RES) releases less harmful substances into the atmosphere, thus protecting the environment and contributing to the reduction of climate change.
Hemp fiber is considered to be one of the most sustainable crops - plants absorb large amounts of CO2. Compared to cotton, cultivation of hemp requires significantly less water and does not need pesticides or other chemicals. In addition, hemp is helpful for the soil: it destroys weeds, fertilizes, regenerates degraded land, and stops processes of erosion.
In a modern factory built in Kėdainiai in 2019, hemp stalks are processed into high-quality fibers for textiles and nonwovens, and the remaining materials (dye and dust) are used in other industries.
We are glad that the processes in the factory will actively contribute to a more sustainable future even more.
